At Hotel Joaquin, the coast sets the pace. Twenty-two individually designed rooms bring together natural materials, vintage pieces and record players, while the shared living spaces open the stay out toward Laguna Beach. It is a small, adults-only address with plenty of reasons to linger.
Robert McKinley’s design gives the hotel much of its character. Start with coffee in the lobby, take a dip in the heated pool, or borrow a bicycle or bodyboard from the Adventure Outpost. Beyond the property, Laguna’s public gardens and art museum make the surrounding town part of the experience.
“The hotel’s bar puts cocktails and alcohol-free drinks at the heart of a relaxed evening. Its rooms-and-living-spaces scale makes it feel like part of the house.”
